Happy hour came early again this week. I have an article scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, that will be posted for the Better 2012 event. So you can check it out here or there.
Brilliance of Comcast
I got a phone call earlier in the week from my cable provider offering a great discount deal opportunity if I upgrade to its HD service. But I don’t have an HDTV. Comcast’s suggestion “There are a lot of great deals on HDTVs going on now.” Spend some money just to increase my monthly cable bill. Brilliant!
Costly Data Plans
AT&T is jacking up it’s data plan pricing starting next week. Apparently AT&T had the new years resolution, to make more money. All because of a 40% increase in data usage. Something that isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. Maybe a sign of future capital spending on more cell towers to deal with the increase in data usage.
eFile Began This Week
The first of several tax deadlines for the season was on Tuesday. The IRS opened its computers to eFile returns starting this week. If you expect to get a tax refund this year, get your returns done ASAP. Otherwise you’ll be lending money to the government for free. It’s yours get it sooner rather than later. If you owe money, well, take your time. No point in paying early, just get the tax prep done so you know how much you owe. File your taxes today.
Last Call
Since the week was cut short for Happy Hour I had one less day to find some quality posts which only benefits those bloggers who actually got things done early. Cheers to them! That said here are some of the best reads of the week. Check them out:
- Barb discusses the complete lack of interest rates on your savings account and gives some great safe alternatives for a better return. It may not be a huge difference but it all adds up to more than you are getting now.
- Ever heard of brain food. I was reminded, as a kid, every time fish was for dinner. Probably should have ate it too, instead of sneaking it to the dogs. At least Miss T offers up the best brain food to make up for all that potential I gave away.
